Simon Says Stamp and Show - Challenge: Inspired by Summer Distress

This challenge inspired me to use 3 colours from the Summer collection of Distress inks: mowed lawn, salty sea and pickled raspberry. I started with a background of mowed lawn which I sprinkled water on. I cut out the hearts  and coloured them in with distress ink pickled raspberry and added a strip of  Tim Holtz's music tape. I used black archival ink for the saying.
I cut the swirls and coloured them in with distress ink salty ocean.

The ribbon was dyed with salty ocean.

I glued the lower heart onto a Tim Holtz Idea-ology Alpha cards alphabet letter M.
I would also like to enter this tag to Hel's Sunday Stamper week 220 - Green Tambourine

L3 Studio: Compendium of Curiosities 2, Challenge 19

This project was created for Tim Holtz's Compendium of Curiosities 2, Challenge 19 . I have used techniques 1 and 6. Out of curiosity is anyone having problems uploading their photos to their blog. My husband has had to use HTML to upload the photos for my last two projects. I'd be interested to see if anyone has any advice for me.

Graphic 45 - Olde Curiosity Shoppe - Booklet

As promised in my last post, I have made the booklet for the Olde Curiosity Shoppe August 19th 2012. My booklet has been made from The Olde Curiosity Shoppe papers bound together by the Bind-It-All technique.
Title Page
As you can see they are all held into place by strips of paper from which you can remove them and write on the back of them. I would like to enter this project into Simon Says Stamp and Show - No Rules challenge.

Graphics 45 - Olde Curiosity Shoppe

I saw a Recessed Frame Chipboard Book Box on the Calico Crafts website and I decided to make an Olde Curiosity Shoppe from Graphic 45 paper.

I painted the spine of the book with distress stains, vintage photo and walnut stains which gave it a vintage appearance. I cut out the title of the book "Olde Curiosity Shoppe" from 12"x12" paper, the other words came from the 8"x8" pad "Optical Oddities"

I covered the inside of the box with 8"x8" paper from Graphic 45.

The above image is the back of the book. I will follow this post up with a booklet made to go inside it. Happy crafting!

A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol. 2

I made this for Linda from Studio L3 for the Simon Says Stamp sponsored challenge. The techniques used can be found on page 61 Creative Core'Dinations of Tim Holtz's A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol. 2. I used Pocket Watches and Steampunk set Texture fades and I used Tim Holtz's Bigz Die Weathered Clock.

I finished it off with text from Once Upon a Time "Timepiece".

Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge - Paint it up

When thought of this Simon Says Stamp and Show - Paint it up challenge I only thought of the colours I might use. In the end I chose yellow, pink and orange paint and blended them altogether, and I put gesso through a stencil of flowers. I chose  Wendy Vichi stamps for the saying and the face and I coloured them in with Distress pens by painting the colours onto a craft sheet and using water on the TH brushes to colour the stamps in..

I used Distress inks, antique linen, worn lipstick and tumble glass. The photos don't show up the antique linin very well but then after all this is a craft blog and not a photographic blog!!

I was very pleased with the effect the technique produced on my  my canvas board.

Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2012 - August

This is my version of  Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2012 - August. If you want to see the full instructions you can find them on his website. I didn't have the stamps Tim used as they don't appear to be available in the UK but I used one of his Texture Fades. I coloured it in with distress inks, leaving the centre free for a  silhouette of my own. For the lower edge I used On The Edge - scallops.

I put the words "memories we cherish" as a sentiment. I dyed ribbon in distressed stain, fired brick and attached it with a wired pin from which I hung a decorative key.

On the bottom half of the tag I made flowers and leaves out of his Bigz Die, pine cone and leaves in purple, red and yellow Kraft-Core paper.
Although I didn,t have the items Tim used to create the tag I'm pleased with it because it shows off my silhouette.
