Simon Says Stamp and Show ... A Summer Holiday!

A Trip to the Beach

I started my background with a bubble technique shown on a previous blog. I outlined the tag with distress ink tumbled glass. I had a pack of Little Shells by Hero Arts from 2002 which I glued onto the lower part of the tag. I stamped the shells with Ranger archival ink (jet black) and used distress inks ( scattered straw and tea dye). Some of the shells are mounted on foam to create some depth.

I stamped a bucket by Judith M-27 from Stamp Addicts in distress ink festive berries and used a bit of netting to represent a fisherman's net and the words " Sea" and  "Sand" out of Scrabble letters. I put a brad that looks like the Sun in the top right hand corner. Finally I dyed a ribbon using ditress stain broken china.

This project reminds me of all the times we took our three children to the sea side with their buckets and spades, happy times!

This project is for Simon Says Stamp and Show ... A Summer Holiday!

  1. Hi Carol, this is lovely. I love the vibrancy of the bucket against the soft blue of the background and those shells and net add so much dimension. Very summery indeed. Anne x

  3. This is lovely. I like it all, but particularly the scrabble letters .... and the shells, and the netting, and the bucket ..... The music background adds another dimension; it reminds me of the bands and singers and organ players in the old gardens next to the Floral Hall, playing to people lying back in deckchairs, as we used to walk along the promenade. And as you say, it brings back memories of days on the beach - but with the two of you when you were young. Love XXX

  4. Love all the different elements you've combined here Carol. I've always loved shells and think they look very good here. The netting is a great touch. Finally, the scrabble letters are fab! You've packed in loads on this little tag and it all works beautifully together! I've just come back from holiday and this makes me feel quite wistful (not a beach holiday but a short break to Rome - I've fallen in love with a city!!).
